Nora Dawood (she/her)

Zenith Fellow Mentee, Class of 2024
The University of British Columbia Okanagan, Bachelors of Electrical Engineering
Mentor:
Dr. Shawna Pandya

As someone who is naturally curious, Nora has always worked to understand the world around her. Ever since she watched 'Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey', she has always looked up at the sky, wanting to understand it.

Nora's passion for academics and engineering grew in high school, when she had the chance to study abroad in the USA. There, she had the opportunity to join a robotics team, and her love of science through engineering was fostered. She fast-tracked her high school career in order to finish a year early, and has been loving university. She grew up skiing competitively at a high level, and her drive for the sport has followed her into university.

Now in her second year, Nora is studying Electrical Engineering. Through her academics, she's had the chance to explore a number of projects. In her first year, she worked on a project involving using hemp hurd and salt as a regular road salt replacement, aptly named "Project Halt" (in her unbiased opinion). She also worked on a group research project involving Seaweed farming and CO2 emissions. Nora is looking forward to getting to be more involved in the Canadian Space sector.

In her spare time, Nora is probably skiing or camping. She also loves to read, and occasionally edit videos. She likes to make people laugh, and making new friends. Nora is thrilled to be part of the Zenith community.
