Established as a not-for-profit organization in 2021, the Zenith Canada Pathways Foundation was founded by Hira Nadeem, Zaid Rana, and Tahir Merali. Coming from different parts of Canada with different professional experience, they all had the same challenge of finding a place where they felt a sense of belonging within the space sector in Canada. With a team of passionate Canadians from across Canada, the US and Europe they set forth to support the next generation by developing a program that promotes retention of talent in Canada, increases diversity in the sector, and provides a community in which young space careers can thrive. So, the Zenith Fellowship program was born. His role involves helping to develop, test, and operate the world’s only piloted spaceship in operation.A graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada, Jameel has also earned a Master of Science degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Jameel was a front-line fighter pilot on the CF-18 Hornet. He is a graduate of the prestigious Fighter Weapons Instructor Course. As an exchange officer to the Royal Air Force, he flew 84 combat sorties in the Tornado GR4. Jameel subsequently was selected to attend the USAF Test Pilot School, where he became the 4th Canadian in over 70 years to receive the Liethen-Tittle award. He served as an F-16 and F-15 experimental test pilot at Edwards AFB.As a test pilot and fighter pilot, Jameel has accumulated 4,400 hours of flying experience in more than 50 different aircraft. She is also Director of the IIAS/PoSSUM Space Medicine Group, Chief Instructor of the IIAS/PoSSUM Operational Space Medicine course, Director of Medical Research at Orbital Assembly Corporation, clinical lecturer at the University of Alberta, podcast host with the World Extreme Medicine’s WEMCast series, Primary Investigator (PI) for the Shad Canada-Blue Origin student microgravity competition, appointed member of the ASCEND 2021 Guiding Coalition, Life Sciences Team Lead for the Association of Spaceflight Professionals, and sessional lecturer for the “Technology and the Future of Medicine,” course at the University of Alberta. She serves as medical advisor to several space, medical and technology companies, including Mission: Space Food, Gennesys and Aquanauta, as well as the Jasper Dark Sky Festival Advisory Committee. With both Canadian and Italian citizenship and a passion for exploration, Kyle has visited over 100 countries and lived in 13. Many of the autonomy applications call for automated interpretation of images of natural scenes, and he develops techniques to do that, both for geological and atmospheric applications. He often works closely with both the science and engineering teams on programs – whether in the development or operation stage. Dr. Raymond Francis is the Deputy Science Operations Team Chief for the Mars 2020 rover project, and works in several operations roles for both the Perseverance and Curiosity Mars rovers. He is a member of both the ChemCam and SuperCam instrument teams, and take part in planning both geological and atmospheric science observations on the two rover missions. She has experience in the aviation, naval, and space industry. She graduated from Carleton University's Aerospace Electronics and Systems Engineering program. Her undergraduate thesis consisted of creating a mobile ground station to receive signals from various NOAA weather satellites, which was later published by the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in 2020. Heidi has experience working with EyasSat satellites, CubeSats, and recovery systems for sounding rockets. Dr. Osinski’s research interests are diverse and interdisciplinary in nature and focuses on understanding the evolution of the surface of the Earth and other planetary bodies as well as the origin and evolution of life. His main focus is on understanding impact cratering as a planetary geological process, on the Earth, Moon and Mars. Dr. Osinski has published over 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals and special papers and has given over 110 conference presentations. He has received numerous awards for this research, including the Young Scientist Medal of the Mineralogical Association of Canada (2015), the W. W. Hutchison Medal of the Geological Association of Canada (2018), and the Barringer Medal of the Meteoritical Society (2021). Dr. Kendall's scientific interests include the Earth's upper atmosphere and space weather phenomena although, more recently, he has focussed on international space policy issues associated with the sustainability of outer space. Dr. Kendall has spent much of his career working with students and young professionals mainly through his long association with the International Space University where he is faculty member, emeritus. He is also on the Board of Advisors of SEDS-Canada and part of their mentorship program. the Stream Lead - Space at Creative Destruction Lab (CDL), a global startup program and nonprofit organization that delivers an objectives-based program for massively scalable, seed-stage, science- and technology-based companies. He concurrently holds a role as a Venture Manager for Space, overseeing a portfolio of startups as they engage throughout the program and with its various stakeholders. Patrick has previously held the role of Venture Recruitment Lead - Global Streams, managing Creative Destruction Labs startup scouting, and evaluation & selection processes for its three global streams: CDL-Advanced Therapies, CDL-Cancer, and CDL-Space. Additionally, Patrick volunteers as a Deep Tech Startup Advisor for the Incubateur HEC Paris, working with Japanese Quantum and Space companies. In his non-space life, Patrick has worked in business development for a variety of seed-stage tech startups in industries spanning blockchain and logistics, fintech, mobile apps, and food and beverage.
