Carleton University, Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering

Khang has lived the life of an explorer. As a kid, his parents took him on trips throughout his home country of Vietnam and nearby countries. Later on, Khang had a one-of-a-kind high school experience by studying in four different countries during his four years: Vietnam, the United States, New Zealand, and Canada. In 2023, Khang worked a research internship in Germany, where he had the chance to explore the country and its neighbors. His traveling has left him aspiring to embrace the unknown.

Along with traveling, Khang has always been enthusiastic about aerospace. As such, he decided to study Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University. Currently, as a third-year engineering student, Khang participates in Carleton’s Rocketry Team (CU Inspace), where he assists in developing the electronics of a payload designed to study the effects of high gravity on a frog cell. He also volunteers at the Carleton Aerospace Astrophysics Radio Club (CA2RC), whose purpose is to deploy Carleton’s first CubeSat into orbit to research a new propulsion system. Here, Khang co-leads the Electrical Power System subsystem, which supplies and distributes power to other subsystems of the satellite.

Outside of school, Khang likes to read, especially biographies. His learning of Steve Jobs, Chris Hadfield, and Elon Musk has inspired him to delve into unfamiliar territories. Combining this with his extracurricular involvements at school, Khang has grown enthusiastic about working in the space industry. As a result, Khang will join Zenith Canada’s Class of 2024 as a mentee. He hopes to widen his understanding of the space industry and establish meaningful connections with experienced mentors and like-minded peers.
